  • What's Hoppy?

    Hoppy is carbonated soft drink made with malt and hops. It is practically non-alcoholic, at only 0.8%, so it’s typically enjoyed mixed with shochu or liqueurs.
    Hoppy was born in Akasaka, Tokyo in 1948, and it is a very long seller product that has been loved ever since.

  • Is Hoppy a drink of shochu mixed with beer?

    No. Hoppy has a taste of beer but not a beer. Shochu isn't included in it from the beginning.
    It is delicious even if you drink it as it is, but when you try drinking by mixing with shochu, it's really good!
    It's a magical drink that you cannot stop drinking.

  • How much calories does Hoppy have?

    Hoppy is about 11 kcal in 100 ml, and it is about 1/4 calorie of beer. Hoppy is a health conscious beverage with very low calories. It is low in carbohydrates and has zero purines! Also, Hoppy's yeast contains vitamins B1, B2, nicotinic acid, folic acid, essential amino acids, minerals, etc., and is a good drink to promote metabolism.

  • What is a purine with zero prines?

    It is "Umami" ingredient contained in alcohol. In fact, this is due to changes in protein.
    When maltose is fermented during preparation and fermentation process, protein is converted to amino acid depending on temperature, and what is contained in it is purines.

  • What is good about having zero purines?

    It is said that if you take too much purine, your body's uric acid levels may rise which causes pain in your joints and gout. It is also said to cause urolithiasis. There is no such worries for Hoppy with zero purines. However, please be careful about drinking too much for your health.

  • What is the secret of Hoppy's taste? Is there any selected raw materials?

    Yes, we are thoroughly particular about the raw materilas. We use "malt" from Canadian two-row barley, "hops" from the world's finest German Haratau aroma and bitter types, "yeast" from bottom-fermenting yeast chosen by yeast bank of Munich, Germany, and "water" from natural water of Chichibu mountain system.

  • Is it delicious to drink straight?

    Yes, of course!
    If your doctor advised you to stop drinking beer due to gout or you're not good ar the bitther taste of beer, or you're not good at alcohol, you can enjoy drinking Hoppy straight. If you mix HOPPY and HOPPY BLACK 50/50, you can enjoy it more deliciously.

  • Do I always have to drink Hoppy with Shochu? Is it good pair with other alcohol beverages?

    No. you don't have to. It is compatible with sake and spirits other than shochu. It is also very delicious to drink with gins and vodka, lychee and plum liqueurs. Try it in various ways and enjoy yourself in your Hoppy style that you think is the most delicious.

  • What is the difference between Hoppy and beer?

    Hoppy is designed and brewed with the aim of being delicious with a 0.8% alcohol content, instead of supplementing the original taste of alcohol with other ingredients and techniques. It is neither being made with a carbonated water and the essence of hops, nor a beer lees. The manufacturing process is the same as beer, but wort concentration, using yeast, fermentation time, etc. are all made by Hoppy Beverage's secret know-how. That's why it's Hoppy, not beer.

  • What is the difference between Hoppy and sour?

    Hoppy is made from a proprietary process, with raw materials chosen to produce a unique “hoppy flavor” that is not in beer, distilled liquor or sour when mixed with shochu. Hoppy is delicious to mix, good as it is, and Hoppy is hoppy. Hoppy is not sour so adding ice is a taboo. You don't drink beer with ice, do you?

  • What is the difference between Hoppy and Hoppy330?

    The contents are the same. Hoppy is for shops. Hoppy 330 is an uncollected bottle product developed for your home.

  • What is the difference between Hoppy and Hoppy Black?

    It is the same as the difference between ordinary beer and dark beer. Hoppy is made of light malt and Hoppy Black is made of dark malt.

  • Do you collect bottles?

    Hoppy 330 and Hoppy Black bottles are not collected. Bottles which discarded at home are properly recycled.

  • What is the best way to drink Hoppy?

  • What is hoppy named after?

    Hoppy was named with the meaning of beer-like drinks, non-beer with real hops.
    It was initially named "Hobbie". However, because the sounds of words was bad, so we changed the name to "Hoppy" instead. It's a little trivia, isn't it?

  • How did you decide the shape and color of the bottle?

    Glass bottles were very valuable in the 1940s, when we launched Hoppy. There were times when it sold too much and it ran short.
    At that time, we focused on the bottles of beer that American soldiers stationed in Akasaka were casually drinking. It is the origin of the Hoppy bottle to obtain and use that bottle. That's why the shape is similar to American bottled beer. The color of the current bottle is brown, which is effective for blocking sunlight.
